When someone we love dies we will naturally feel pain. Pain from loss is part of this journey that we call life and it cannot be avoided. Often people will try to avoid pain by distracting themselves by busying themselves every moment of the day, using drugs, drinking, shopping, gambling or overeating. There are many more ways that people avoid feeling their pain, but the truth is the only way to heal is to go through it.
Grief is grief whether it is from the ending of a relationship, divorce or the death of a loved one. When we are in pain over the loss of someone we love, our heart will often ache. That is why it is called Heartache. The pain in the heart varies for everyone. One person may experience it as a dull ache, another may feel pinpricks or heaviness. Someone else may feel a stabbing pain, and the pain may actually manifest as a heart condition.
This pain can be scary and when we have had our heart’s broken we may consciously or unconsciously close our heart. By this, I mean we can create a wall around our heart to protect ourselves. This is natural and we use it as a defence mechanism.
There are many natural remedies that can support you through your grief. One powerful remedy that is easy to use is Rose. In aromatherapy Rose Essential Oil is called “Queen Of The Aromatics” because of its amazing healing abilities. Rose is very cooling and helps to reduce, soothe and balance the heat that is in the body. It helps to calm the mind which can be very active when grieving.

If you only use it once in a while you will not receive the benefits of this powerful essential oil. You can place a couple of drops onto a tissue and inhale it throughout your day. You can also tuck the tissue in your pillow at night so you will receive the benefits while you are sleeping.
An easy way to incorporate it into your day is to diffuse the oil in your home. You can add it to your lotion or body oil and massage it onto your body, especially your heart. Adding it to your bath along with epsom salts can soothe and calm you anytime day or night.
